Subject:
After receiving anonymous letters, a doctor and
the chemist in a Sicilian village, Cefalu’ are murdered
during a shooting party.
The local community considers the incident to be a matter of a
personal honour, but Professor Laurana has a different theory.
He starts his own inquiry, in the course of which he falls in
love with Luisa, the doctor’s window, and confides in a
lawyer, Rosello, Luisa’s cousin who has secretly ordered
a murder to be carried out which will enable him to marry the
attractive young woman.
Laurana’s excessive curiosity costs him his life, while
the wedding of Luisa and Rosella is celebrated in pomp.
