the numbered days:
home

Subject: A plumber in his early fifties, a widower and childless, after witnessing in a train the death of a man of his age, is henceforth haunted by the fear that his own days may be numbered.
He gives up his job and tries to set his life in order and to enjoy what life remains to him. All he meets with, however, is a series of disillusions; nothing impinges on his solitudine.
Fate deceives him, leaving a bitter after-taste.More hopeless than ever, his only choice is to take up his routine work once again.
