attached to his profession. However, urged on by his ambitious wife, he resigns from his post and lauches a lillte shoe-business. At first, thanks to the economic boom, things go well; later, incapable as he is of turning into a real business-man, his undertaking falters and he finally goes bankrupt; Mombelli is deserted by all, including his wife.
